Geographic Information Systems

"A geographic information system (GIS) lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. GIS benefits organizations of all sizes and in almost every industry. There is a growing interest in and awareness of the economic and strategic value of GIS." ESRI®

The LLCHD GIS program deals with health, environment, and socioeconomic data at many geographic scales including individual entities. With the advancements in hardware and software, the collection, storage, and manipulation of GIS data has increased dramatically. As the City of Lincoln boundaries have grown, the need for GIS has become vital for health risk assessment and program evaluation.
