The City’s property tax rate has dropped 45 percent since 1993-94.
The City’s property tax rate has stayed the same or decreased for the last 13 years, except for the small increases completely attributable to voter-approved bond issues in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.
Over the last 16 years (1990-91 to 2006-07), the population of Lincoln has grown 24.61 percent. The area of the City in square miles has increased 34.33 percent. Total number of City employees (in FTEs) has gone up only 10.02 percent. If you factor out public safety (Police, Fire, 911), the FTEs have gone up only 3.56 percent.
