A number of retired officers attended the ceremony.

Former State Senator Carol McBride Pirsch, who advocated for victims' rights, was the keynote speaker.

Police Chief Tom Casady presented Officer George Welter's badge to his widow, Sandra, who attended the ceremony with her family. Officer Welter was the last Lincoln Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty in 1968.
