Danny currently serves as Deputy Chief of Training. His career with the department began as a firefighter in 1977. Danny has served as a company officer on both engine and truck apparatus, and as a Hazardous Material team Captain. In his current capacity as chief of training, he is responsible for the development and delivery of training curriculum for all fire and emergency skills for all department personnel. Danny has been a Fire Service instructor since 1979 teaching for the Nebraska Fire Service, State Fire Marshals office, and the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency throughout Nebraska and the Midwest.

Danny is a graduate of the Southeast Community College Fire Protection Program, and in the National Fire Academy, Executive Fire Officer Program. Danny is a Task Force Leader for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, NETF-1 Urban Search and Rescue Team. He served as Task Force Leader of the team that responded to the World Trade Center Incident, after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. He also serves as the department representative for the Lancaster Mutual Aid Association which includes interaction with the Lancaster County rural volunteer fire departments.

Danny has served on numerous committees and attended many sessions that have included representative to the National Fire Academy, Training Resource and Data Exchange (TRADE) Metro representative, co-chair on Region VII (Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri) TRADE organization, member of the International Society Fire Service Instructor (ISFSI) and recipient of the ISFSI Innovator of the year Award, Urban Search and Rescue Operations Working Group Committee member, City of Lincoln City Wide Safety Committee member, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency Hazardous Materials Training Committee, member of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and member of Nebraska Society of Fire Service and Instructors.

Danny has served on many service committees including: the Vine Congregational Church, Board of Worship, Board of Trustees, and cabinet, Lincoln Southeast High School Assistant TRAP shooting coach, Southeast Community College Advisory Board member, Lincoln Trap and Skeet Club, Leadership Link, National Management Association, American Society for Training and Development.
