City Advisory Boards |
This board advises the Mayor and City Council on the city's tree resources, encompassing issues such as planting, maintenance and preservation. The board assists in the development of a comprehensive community forestry management plan and in formulating policies regarding tree and vegetation planting, maintenance and removal. It reviews and makes recommendations on proposals that concern trees on public property and promote landscaping on public and private property.
Special Requirements: Seven members must reside within the City of Lincoln.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, City Council and the Parks & Recreation Director. It assists in long-range program development and makes recommendations to the Mayor and City Council through the Parks & Recreation Director.
Special Requirements: Ten members must be Lincoln residents; two need not be Lincoln residents; two members must currently attend high school or college in Lincoln and have completed their freshman year in high school one County Board member and one City Council member.
The committee advises the Mayor, City Council and the Department of Parks & Recreation on the development of a comprehensive plan for bicycle and pedestrian network. The group also makes recommendations on the location, needs, designs, safety, and development of policies relating to the use of trails and routes.
The Advisory Council recommends policy to the Director of Parks & Recreation, The City Council and the Mayor on issues relating to the development, design programming and preservation of the Veterans Memorial Garden area and all memorials contained in the Garden.
Special Requirements: Seven members must be veterans, and the remaining four members may be veterans.
