East Lincoln/ Elm Park Landmark District

Boundary/Address:
28th to 30th Street, N to Randolph Street
Designation:
Local Landmark
"East Lincoln" was platted in 1868 as a suburb separated from the capital city, which was platted just a year earlier and about a mile west. Only a few houses were built in this subdivision between O and L Streets before 1900. In 1904, the Woods Brothers, Lincoln real estate developers extraordinare, platted Elm Park between L and Randolph Streets, and the whole area began to develop rapidly. Most of the houses of this district are the roomy, frame "Prairie Boxes" of the 1900s and 1910s, interspersed with a few earlier houses in East Lincoln and some fine bungalows.
