Construction Information
Construction began Monday, June 9 on the East Adams traffic improvement and water main project.
The East Adams project includes a paved roadway with curb, gutter and sidewalks as well as left-turn and right-turn lanes at intersections. A traffic signal at 84th Street and Leighton Avenue and a new water main in the area of 90th Street are also being installed. Construction is estimated to conclude before the end of this construction season, but factors such as weather and maintaining access could cause delays.
Construction is scheduled to occur in the following sequence:
- Adams St. from 75th to 80th streets will be closed to through traffic. Two-way, paved public access to 80th St. and the Mahoney Golf Course driveway will be provided from the east on Adams St. At the same time, Adams St. from 87th to 94th streets will be closed to through traffic for water main installation.
- Upon completion of the section from 75th to 80th streets, Adams St. From 80th to 84th streets will be closed to through traffic.
- Two-way, paved public access to 80th Street and the Mahoney Golf Course driveway will be provided from the west on Adams St. Once the new signal at 84th Street and Leighton Avenue is operational, Adams St. from 84th to 87th streets will be closed to through traffic.
Access will be provided from at least one direction to all properties during construction, except during driveway reconstruction. Road closures will be announced in the Lincoln Journal Star and on the City Web site, lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: east adams). The City and the contractor will also communicate with individual property owners regarding driveway closures.
