Day Captain, Dennis Clark

 

Day Captain, Dave Kluthe

Currently Dennis Clark serves as day captain in the Training Division. He has served this department since March 1992 as firefighter.

Captain Clark has contributed to Lincoln Fire & Rescue in many ways as a firefighter, paramedic, acting captain, and captain by providing emergency services to the citizens of Lincoln and worked on numerous engine companies since 1992.

Dennis took advantage and successfully completed a National Registered Paramedic course provided by LFR in 1994. He was awarded his NREMT-P certification and Lincoln EMS System Certification in May of 1996.

He has received numerous commendations from LFR including the Phoenix Award, Unit Performance Award and Medal of Valor.

He is a active member of the Nebraska Task Force -1 participating in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) program holding positions in rescue and medical specialist. Dennis also serves as one of the lead instructors in structural collapse technician course with focus on building collapse shoring.

Dennis is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. He has completed Fire Academy Classes in, “Tactical Operations for Company Officers I & II”, “Leadership II”, “Managing Company Tactical Operations”, “Firefighter Safety and Survival”, and “Emergency Response to Terrorism Basic Concepts”. He is a certified firefighter holding Firefighter I and II Certification from the US Department of Labor.

For the past 2 years Dennis has functioned as a paramedic preceptor responsible to mentor LFR’s newest paramedics mentoring them to earn their EMS system certification for ambulance transport capability.

Dennis has been involved in community service as an active member in the volunteer fire service since 1987 in which he served as fire chief with the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and currently a volunteer firefighter with the Valparaiso Fire Department. In addition, Dennis is the trustee for building and grounds of the Valparaiso Methodist Church and past chair of the trustee committee. He remains active supporter of the Valparaiso Ball Association which supports boy’s and girl’s baseball and softball programs.
