WorkWell is recognizing its 25th anniversary on October 18th with former Major League Baseball pitcher and cancer survivor, Dave Dravecky, bringing his message of healthy living to more than 300 business people committed to worksite wellness. Dravecky will be the keynote presenter for WorkWell's 25th anniversary banquet. Mayor Chris Beutler and Charlie Meyer, President of the Lincoln Salt Dogs and WorkWell Board Chairman, will open the program which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Rococo Theatre, 13th and P Streets.
WorkWell, a program of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, helps businesses establish quality worksite wellness programs. While worksite wellness programs are financially beneficial to businesses, "corporate leaders in wellness are committed to people first," said Lisa Henning, director of WorkWell. "Wellness leaders in our community are concerned about the health and quality of life for their people making that their driving force to provide wellness programs for their employees and families."
This anniversary recognition also features Governor Dave Heineman and Dr. Joann Schaefer, Nebraska's Chief Medical Officer, presenting nineteen businesses with the Governor's Excellence in Wellness Award. Businesses receiving this award have worksite wellness programs that have contributed to measurable improvement in employee health.
In addition, WorkWell will recognize its 2011 Wellness Champions. The Leadership Award will be given to an individual who has inspired others to live healthy lifestyles. An achievement award will be given to an individual who has made significant personal health changes.
