Animal Control Education Program

The Animal Control Division of the Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department provides free presentations to the public on various topics for any age, group, school, club or event in the city of Lincoln. Each presentation can be given with or without videos and can vary in length depending on what is available. Some topics and videos are more appropriate for certain age groups. Animal Control will help you decide the best topics for your age group.

Each presentation is designed to educate the audience about public safety, Animal Control, and animal related topics in general. Some of the topics are: animal safety and bite prevention, rabies and responsibility, and choosing the right pet for you.

All presentations begin with Animal Control information, what Animal Control is, what Animal Control does, (depending on age of audience and length of time allowed), what ordinances Lincoln has pertaining to animals can also be included. Visual aids are provided for young children to see and learn from. Introducing proper pet care and responsible pet ownership at a young age is crucial, as well as learning animal safety. Topics are geared toward any age group. Average length for any topic is 45 minutes unless a long video is shown.

Animal Control has equipment to show videos, if one is not available. Handout material (including fun stuff like stickers, pencils, etc. ) is part of the presentation. Animal Control can also set up a booth at any event in Lincoln, such as health/school fairs, scouting events, etc. The booth can include videos (if electricity is available), as well as hands on material. Every year, Animal Control has a Be Kind To Animals drawing contest where kids participate. The contest deadline is the end of March.
