Saunders County Senior Services is jointly sponsored by county, State, and Federal funds made available through the Saunders County Board of Supervisors and the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging.  Contributions for services and donations also help to support the Program.

All activities and services of the Saunders County Senior Services Program are provided without regard to race, color, creed, national origin or disability.

Saunders County Senior Services

Saunders County Senior Services is dedicated to helping older individuals live independently and remain an active and vital part of the Community.  We are a resource for older adults and their families providing information about the network of services available throughout the county.   We help to ensure that   all older persons in Saunders County have access to social, educational and recreational programs.

Saunders County Senior Services is open Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. except for recognized County Holidays and inclement weather.  If in doubt, please call 402-443-4896 for information.

Senior Centers in Saunders County

Senior Centers in Saunders County are located in Ashland, Cedar Bluffs, Ceresco, Valparaiso, and Wahoo.  The Centers are community meeting places where older persons can come together for fellowship, group meals, recreation and learning.  A noon meal is available for a suggested contribution of $3.00 for individuals 60 years of age or older.  Meals are also available for Individuals under 60 for $4.00.  Modified diets are available when necessary.  Anyone wishing to eat at a Center must make advance reservations.

There are individual, extenuating circumstances that may qualify someone to receive a noon meal for a suggested donation.  Please call and visit with the Saunders County Program Manager for details. 

Special services and activities at the Centers include:  Educational presentations, card parties, bingo, quilting, blood pressure checks, pedicures and manicures, intergenerational activities, and much more!

Home Delivered Meals

Home Delivered Meals are available to home-bound seniors throughout Saunders County for a suggested contribution of $3.25.  Each meal is one-third of the recommended daily nutritional needs for an individual.    Modified diets are available with doctor's orders. Call 402-443-4887 for complete information and/or to set up service.

Emergency Sack Lunch

There is an emergency sack lunch program where an individual can get a shelf stable meal to keep at their home.  The sack lunch can be used if the client is unable to attend their regular meal site due to illness or other condition or in the event of an emergency situation.  Call 402-443-4887 for additional information.
