York County Aging Services is jointly sponsored by county, State, and Federal funds made available through the York County Board of Commissioners and the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging.  Contributions for services and donations also help to support the Program.

York County Aging Services

York County Aging Services is dedicated to maintaining the independent lifestyle and dignity of older adults in our communities.  We work to develop and maintain a network of coordinated, community based services and activities.  We strive to strengthen home and family living for persons 60 years and older and to foster full participation by elders in community life and opportunities.  

 Hours of Operation

York County Aging Services is open Monday thru Friday from  8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. except for recognized County Holidays and inclement weather.  If in doubt, please call 402-362-7626 for information.

Senior Meals offered in York County

Nutritious noon meals served in a group setting are available in York and McCool Junction on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Meal reservations need to be made 24 hours in advance.  People 60 or better and their spouses make a donation for the meal.  Younger diners pay a set fee.

Special services and activities at the Centers include:  Educational presentations, Arts & Humanities programs, Community service projects, card parties, blood pressure checks,  intergenerational activities, and much more!

Medicare & Insurance Information

Persons with questions about Medicare, Medicaid & supplemental insurance can receive help from trained volunteers through the SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program.

Care Management Service

This program's care manager is trained to help older people through difficult situations.

By providing a professional assessment of need and through available resources, those involved can make wise decisions.  Following the assessment, the care manager will:

w Explain available services and all possible options

w Make arrangements and help plan how to make best use of community resources.

w Help make arrangements to get services started.

w Continue to work with the older person to make sure the plan is working

The fee for Care Management is based on the Client's income.

In-Home Services

This program will assist in arranging in-home services for older persons who may need help with:

 Cleaning - Cooking - Laundry - Shopping & Errands - Yard Work -   Miner Home Repairs - Snow Removal - Personal Care Tasks -  Respite Care

Match-ups are made with independent contractors in the community, or referrals made to appropriate agencies that provide the needed services.

The costs for these services are paid by the older adult.  Low income persons may qualify for assistance in paying for needed services.

Transportation

Transportation services are provided by York County Handi Bus and Busy Wheels.  There is a charge for the services and a sliding fee scale program.  Call 402-362-7626 for information or to schedule a ride.

      Transportation services are provided in the City of York.
Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

       Transportation to other communities is on the following schedule. 

  • Tuesday - Benedict, Waco, Gresham, & McCool Junction Area
  • Wednesday - Bradshaw & Henderson Area
  • Thursday - 1st & 3rd to Lincoln; 2nd & 4th to Grand Island

                 ~~ The Handi Bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift. ~~

Senior Companion Program

Older volunteers give support and friendship to other older persons needing companionship.  The Senior companion may also provide respite for families who are caring for frail family members. For information call 402-362-7626.
