Pilates
Pilates is a gentle and effective way to build core strength in the abdominal muscles
and those that surround the spine. Weakness in this area is at the heart of most chronic
back pain. Emphasis is also placed on balancing strength and flexibility in the muscles
surrounding the joints. Joseph Pilates named six principles as the basis of his method:
concentration, control, centering, flowing movement, precision and breathing. The Pilates
Method works the body in a systematic and organized way.
