Lincoln Energy Challenge Outreach Events 2011
The Lincoln Energy Challenge appeared at dozens of community events to recruit pledge takers. Here were some of our biggest events:
Earth Day - April 2011
Lincoln Earth Day attracted thousands of attendees, and the Challenge was one of nearly 100 educational booths. The free event also provided stage entertainment, kids activities , a farmer's market and a fun run.
Saltdogs game - June 2011
Cleaner Greener Lincoln sponsored a Saltdogs baseball game, which allowed organizers to educate hundreds of residents about the Challenge. The sports announcer read recurring statements encouraging attendees to join the Challenge at the front gates, and on-field green challenges were organized between innings. Participants raced to put bikes on bike racks, sorted recyclables and played energy trivia.
Jazz in June - June 2011
As a sponsor of this summer music festival, Cleaner Greener Lincoln received a booth space and access to a theatre before the concert to show its "Junior Superhero" videos.
Celebrate Lincoln - June 2011
General outreach and education - ongoing
The Challenge hosted a booth at a variety of community events including picnics, home and garden shows, and parent-teacher conferences and to reach as many Lincolnites as possible. Organizers also hosted several energy classes at Southeast Community College.
