Changes to the way members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Inc. Board of Directors are appointed has resulted in several new faces on the seven-member board.
Previously, all seven appointments were made by the Mayor with City Council approval. On December 4, 2000, the City Council approved an amended Articles of Incorporation that calls for five appointments to be made by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. A sixth member is appointed by the Mayor from at least two names recommended by the Lancaster County Medical Society. That appointment is also subject to City Council approval. The seventh appointment is made by the Lancaster County Board.
Four new members will complete the unexpired terms of members who have resigned. New appointments to the board are:
EMS, Inc. was created in 1994 to provide independent medical oversight for the Lincoln EMS system. It is funded by the City of Lincoln, BryanLGH Medical Center and the St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center.
