"Many in our city enjoy a well-deserved day off Monday, the 107th national observance of Labor Day. This weekend's holiday takes on special significance in our community, which continues to enjoy one of the best employment rates in the nation. Lincoln also has one of the country's highest percentages of women working outside the home. The people of this city -- working to run factories, businesses and households -- are the engine that drives our growing economy.
