"This Thanksgiving, our family and friends will gather together to share our love for one another. We are thankful for each other and for God's grace that shines down upon us with blessings everyday. We are also grateful for our great community and country. As we gather with family and friends to count our blessings this Thanksgiving, we must remember those less fortunate. The recent 'Point in Time Count' in Lincoln shows that an increasing number of people in Lincoln are homeless. Agencies that feed the hungry are also seeing an increased need. The recent economic downturn has left some without jobs. Our community provides many opportunities to help the homeless and the hungry. As we enter the holidays, the season of giving, I encourage citizens to help those who have little or nothing. It is truly better to give than to receive."
