Mayor Urges Water Conservation
|
Mayor Wesely reminded residents that water conservation is especially important
during the summer months at a news conference May 23 near 84th and Vine streets,
where a major water main and street improvement project is under way. With the
Mayor are Jerry Obrist, Chief Engineer of the Lincoln Water System and water
conservation art contest winners Schyler Hearn of Fredstrom Elementary and
Johnny Knoche of Meadow Lane Elementary.

Parks and Recreation Director Lynn Johnson and Mayor Wesely unveil a proposed
new Master Plan for the Antelope Park Triangle, bordered roughly by South 27th
Street, "A" Street and Capitol Parkway.

Lincoln Boosts Paper Recycling during "Clean Your Files Week"
|
Mayor Don Wesely presented awards May 30 to the Gallup Organization, the University of
Nebraska - Lincoln and Park Middle School for their efforts to recycle office
paper during “Clean Your Files Week” April 22 through 26. Pictured are Diane
Reinsch, who accepted the award for Park. Also pictured are representatives
of organizations which support the effort: Carrie Hackenkamp of WasteCap, Erin
Gruenhagen of the Lincoln Public Schools and Ken Cooper of Midland Recycling
along with city Recycling Coordinator Gene Hanlon.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Olympic Homes
|
U.S. Representative Doug Bereuter and Mayor Wesely joined representatives from
Nebraska Housing Resource (NHR), Neighborhoods Inc., the Nebraska Investment
Finance Authority (NIFA) and Fannie Mae on May 18 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony
for Olympic Homes, a development of 14 homes for moderate-income families.
