The Lincoln Public Works and Utilities Department will begin reconstruction of the intersection of 27th and South streets at 9 a.m., Monday, July 28. The intersection is being rebuilt due to the deterioration of the concrete roadway surface.

The intersection is expected to be closed for one week. This closure is in addition to the current closure of South Street from 27th to 38th streets.

Detour routes will be marked with signage. The marked detour routes are:

• Northbound: 27th to Sheridan Blvd. to South Street.
• Southbound: 27th to “A” Street to 16th Street to South Street to Sheridan Blvd.
• Eastbound: South Street to 17th Street to “A” Street to Normal Blvd.
• Westbound: Normal Blvd. to “A” Street to 16th Street to South Street

Traffic is expected to be heavy on the detour routes. City officials advise motorists to stay on the marked detour routes and to use caution.
