Residents of the College View area are invited to a neighborhood design workshop from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 at the Don Love Student Center Atrium, Union College campus, 3800 S. 48th St. At the workshop, participants will share their ideas on streetscape improvements and solutions for problem areas with an urban designer.
The workshop is a follow-up to a mobility audit for streets, sidewalks and paths recently completed by City planners and neighborhood volunteers. The audit looked at issues for pedestrians, bicyclists, bus users and motorists. The audit report includes an inventory of current conditions and opportunities for improvement. Workshop participants will have access to that information as well as the Union College master plan, crash data, and current and future traffic estimates.
Following the workshop, City planners will work with a neighborhood study committee to develop strategies, priorities and an action plan for implementing improvements through public and private partnerships. The plan will become part of Lincolnís long-range transportation planning process.
