The America Recycles Day celebration Nov. 17 at Midland Recycling included the presentation of prizes. Residents who pledged to increase their recycling efforts were entered into the drawing. Mayor Beutler announced November 20 that he will veto the City Council action to exempt nonprofit organizations from the City's living wage ordinance. He was joined by representatives of many nonprofit organizations in the community. Among them was Pastor Tom Barber of the People's City Mission, who also spoke at the news conference.
