Fire Officials Stress Holiday Safety

Children to help Firefighters rescue Santa

Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) reminds residents to focus on fire prevention and safety over the upcoming holiday season. Each year, fires claim the lives of over 400 Americans, injure1,650 more and cause more than $930 million in damage. To focus attention on holiday fire safety, LFR and two local children will rescue Santa from a roof at SouthPointe Pavilions the evening of Saturday, November 28. This year's event is part of radio station B107's "Christmas Wish" program.

LFR offers the following holiday fire safety tips:

To protect children in the home, LFR also recommends cutting branches off the bottom of natural trees. Ribbons and sharp or breakable glass ornaments should be kept out of the reach of children.
