The Transportation Summit convened by U.S. Senator Ben Nelson from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday March 30 will be available for the public to watch on their televisions or computers in several ways:
The public also is invited to attend the Summit in the City Council Chambers at the County-City Building, 555 S. 10th St. Free parking is available in the City lot just north of the building, across "K" Street.
According to Senator Nelson's Office, the purpose of the Summit is to discuss issues concerning transportation projects in Nebraska in an effort to reduce the lead time necessary to advance projects to construction and identify possible solutions to accomplish that goal. Panelists are expected to include Senator Nelson; U.S. Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez; and Nebraska State Senator Deb Fischer, Chair of the Legislature's Transportation and Telecommunications Committee. Other State and local transportation officials have been invited to join the discussion, and groups representing Lincoln, Omaha, other cities, counties and consultants have been invited to make presentations.
