Mayor Chris Beutler will present cash awards Wednesday, July 7 to the winners of the National Arts Program contest for employees of the City of Lincoln and their families. Nearly 100 entries were received, and 21 artists will be recognized in a ceremony at 6 p.m. at Turbine Flats, 2124 "Y" St. No City funds were used for the contest or exhibit, and the program had no entry fee.
This is the fourth year the City of Lincoln has participated in the National Arts Program, which sponsors art contests and exhibits for City employees and their families in about 450 communities across the country.
All artwork entered will be exhibited through July 22 at these four libraries:
The winner of the "Best in Show" award is Matt Norsworthy, a Library Assistant II with Lincoln City Libraries. He will receive $300 for that award, and another $300 for wining first place in the professional category. A complete list of award recipients follows this release. Four of the youth artists also won scholarships for classes at the LUX Center for the Arts.
Judges for the contest were two local visual artists, Carol DeVall and Janine Copple.
