Mayor's Office
Mayor Chris Beutler today voted at MLB.com for Lincoln native Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals to make this year's Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Voting ends today at 3 p.m. CDT, and the Mayor urged Lincoln baseball fans to cast their votes for Gordon by the deadline.
Gordon is one of the major league baseball players who played at Lincoln's historic Sherman Field. The Lincoln Parks Foundation is spearheading a $2.2 million fund-raising campaign for renovations at the field. Gordon and Lincoln native Joba Chamberlain of the New York Yankees are Honorary Co-Chairs of the Sherman Field Forever Campaign. More information is available at www.ShermanField.org.
Mayor Beutler's favorite baseball team is the St. Louis Cardinals in part because of his allegiance to his all-time favorite player Stan Musial.
