Westbound Lane of "A" Street to Reopen

The westbound lane of "A" Street between 45th and 48th streets is expected to reopen about 4 p.m. today. The eastbound lane is expected to remain closed through most of Thursday for continuing repair of a water main leak and restoration of the roadway. Motorists are advised to use South Street from 40th to 48th streets.

The street was closed shortly after noon yesterday because of a gas leak. While crews were working on the water main leak, a piece of pavement that had been removed fell and damaged the gas line. The gas leak was repaired by 5 p.m. The water main repair requires crews to turn off water service in the area, and that work will take place tonight to avoid disrupting business operations in the area.
