Lincoln City Libraries and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Genealogical Society are offering free genealogy workshops for all skill levels this month.
Librarian Layne Pierce, coordinator of the One Book - One Lincoln program, said interest in genealogy has been sparked by the 2012 selection, "Destiny of the Republic" by Candice Millard. He said many in the community are interested to find out how their ancestors may have been affected by the Civil War.
At the workshops, experienced genealogists will help participants make sense out of census data, maps and newspapers using library information sources such as Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com. The workshops are offered at the following times and locations:
Pre-registration is required. Call Kathy at 402-441-8503 to reserve a seat.
