Artist and book illustrator Amy Cordova will present a free workshop for children elementary school age and older from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, November 2 at Bennett Martin Library, 136 S. 14th St. Participants will create their own dream animals using the colors and patterns used by traditional artists from the Mexican state of Oaxaca. All materials will be provided. The event is being held in connection with Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday.
Cordova will guide the participants by encouraging them to think about their dreams and any obstacles that are in the way of them achieving those dreams. As part of the workshop, Lincoln City Libraries will give away four pairs of tickets to "Swazzle's Dream Carver" at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 5.
Pre-registration is not required, but those planning to bring a group of 10 or more are asked to call 402-441-8565 in advance. More information is available at lincolnlibraries.org.
