The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department has released its 2016-2017 annual report and summer program guide. The guide will be included in the Sunday, May 6 edition of the Lincoln Journal Star, and a downloadable version is available at parks.lincoln.ne.gov. Copies are also available for free at the following locations:
The annual report includes project updates, highlights community events and provides information on department programs in the areas of youth development, active living, vibrant neighborhoods and environmental stewardship. The program guide provides information about Parks and Recreation programs available throughout the City.
"The guide will help residents learn more about the various programs provided by the numerous sections in our department," said Lynn Johnson, Director of Lincoln Parks and Recreation. "Our efforts to provide programs, facilities and services are 'FUNdamental' to the quality of life in Lincoln. We encourage people to use the program guide to continue or recommit to active, healthy living in the City."
Parks and Recreation will continue its wellness series of free summer programs as part of the department's "Play in the Parks" program that began in January. The free summer programs include canoeing at Holmes Lake, the Crunch and Lunch food program, water fitness classes, yoga in the park, and the Move More Lincoln Wellness Series.
