The Pioneers Park Nature Center invites the public to the Wild Wagon Ride event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, September 22 at the Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave. Space is limited, and those interested are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by calling 402-441-7895. Tickets are $4 per person, and participants choose departure times at the time of purchase.
In addition to visiting areas of the park not usually open to the public, the hayrack-style wagons will roll through the prairie and the elk, white-tailed buck and bison areas. Rides begin at 11:30 a.m. and depart every half hour, with the last ride returning at 4:30 p.m. Participants are asked to meet just west of the Prairie Building along the park road and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure. Remaining tickets sold on the day of the event are first-come, first-serve. Food vendors at the event will include Taco Loco, Fly Dogz, and Kona Ice. Cash payment is recommended for food vendors.
The Nature Center also offers private wagon rides for larger groups. All private rides include a campfire and hot cocoa or lemonade. Pricing depends on the number of participants. For more details, contact the Nature Center at 402-441-7895.
The Wild Wagon Ride replaces the Center's annual Wild Fall Festival.
