Woods Park, Plaza, Pool, & Tennis Improvements

For many years, Woods Pool has been the premier diving and competitive swimming facility in the community; however, recreational use of the facility has been declining in recent years. The addition of an interactive water playground, or sprayground, will provide an increased opportunity for family and youth oriented leisure aquatic activities at this under-utilized facility. The new sprayground will replace the wading pool and has been designed to function both as an integral part of the pool facility, and independently when the pool is being used for swim meets or before and after regular pool season (i.e., earlier in the Spring and later in the Fall).

In addition, the existing clubhouse at the Woods Tennis Center has aged and requires renovation. with funds raised through the Park-it-at-Woods campaign, a new clubhouse and plaza area will be constructed in the same general area as the existing tennis clubhouse (to be removed). The new plaza will include landscaped seating areas in the area between the pool and tennis facilities. In conjunction with the playground, a new concession/mechanical building will be constructed to serve both the sprayground/pool facilities, and the park plaza. Please note that ADA access for people with mobility limitations will be provided throughout the plaza and tennis center.

The projected schedule for construction of the plaza, pool and tennis improvements calls for completion of the sprayground in time to open with the pool this coming summer. The plaza and tennis clubhouse will then be finished over the summer and fall. Landscape material will be installed in phases as construction is completed and weather conditions allow.
