Lincoln Safari Advanced
The Nature Center is an active member of Healthy Families Play Outside (HFPO), a coalition of several area agencies that sponsored the wildly successful Lincoln Safari program since 2008. Over the last three years, HFPO received letters from Lincoln Safari participants describing how life changing Lincoln Safari had been for them, promoting healthy lifestyles, imaginative play, quality family time and environmental stewardship. Though Lincoln Safari’s three year grant expired in 2010, other resources have been found so it’s back for 2011!
In the past, participants used a map to find posts hidden in parks and natural areas around Lincoln. Each post had a plaque that participants used to create images in their Lincoln Safari guidebook. This year, participants will find Lincoln Safari ADVANCED! more challenging. Some sites have a series of clues to find a post, some are out of town, and some sites require that individuals use their own creativity to capture something in their book. In January, guidebooks and maps will available at the Nature Center and in Lincoln Libraries. They are free, but limited in quantity, so pick yours up today and let the Lincoln Safari take you on a tour of nature in and around Lincoln!
