Pearl Harbor Memorial
"Remember Pearl Harbor - Keep America Alert"
(1998) This monument stands as a memorial to all the military personnel who served
at Pearl Harbor and other military installations on the Island of Oahu during the
Japanese attack on Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. It perpetuates the memory of the
2,335 Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and Marines, who died during the attack. Inscribed
are the names of many known Nebraskans, and remembers the unknown who served during
that "Day of Infamy" Specially honored are the forty eight Nebraskans who, that day,
made the supreme sacrifice and gave their life in defense of their country. This
monument was erected by the Nebraska Chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association,
with contributions form three hundred fifty three Nebraskans with a Pearl Harbor connection.
A US flag from the USS Arizona flies over this site on each patriotic holiday.
