Mission Statement for Lincoln Parks and Recreation Horticulture Division
To provide well-maintained, skillfully designed and aesthetically pleasing public display gardens.
These gardens will provide serene, informative areas of repose for all patrons.
Goals for the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Horticulture Division:
By utilizing/coordinating citizen participation and public resources we hope to
accomplish the following goals:
- Design:
Skillfully designing gardens using appropriate patterns of plants that display
appealing colors and textures. This includes following the guidelines of design
intent and to properly maintain the various garden areas.
- Events:
To bring community participation into the gardens through events, instructional
seminars and installation/harvest programs.
- Education:
To educate the community by offering a horticulture internship program, and various
horticulture instructional presentations.
- Maintenance:
To provide the adequate resources and staff with the knowledge of proper horticulture technique,
and the skill to properly implement public display gardens.
- Reviewing development applications for compliance with regulations and design standards:
- To review applications, and determine surety amounts.
- To process requests for release of landscape/street tree surety.
