Artistic Rain Barrel Program rainbarrelauction

The artistic rain barrel program co-sponsored by the Friends of Pioneers Park Nature Center and the City of Lincoln Watershed Management Division is gearing up for a second great year!

Last year, 25 artists created beautiful, whimsical, varied and wonderfully creative rain barrels.  After being exhibited for over a month at local businesses and libraries, they were exhibited for a week in the Prairie Building and then auctioned off at Nature’s Market.  The auction raised $5,647 for scholarships to Nature Center programs.  Check out this link for more information about last year’s program.

The call for artists for this year’s program has gone out.  Applications and more information about this year's contest is available on-line as well as the City of Lincoln Watershed Management Division, 901 N. 6th St or at Pioneers Park Nature Center.  Applications are due January 25, 2010.  The selected artists will have one month to complete their barrel.
