Comp Plan/LRTP 2030 Update
What's New!

January 26, 2007
  • City Council and County Board Adopted Year 2030 Comprehensive Plan/LRTP

At the conclusion of a joint hearing of the Lincoln City Council and Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on November 16, 2006, both public bodies unanimously adopted the unified Year 2030 Comprehensive Plan and Long Range Transportation Plan.

The newly adopted Year 2030 Plan lays out a vision for Lincoln and Lancaster County, which projects a County-wide population of over 390,000 persons by the year 2030 and adds nearly 30 square miles to the urbanized area. To accommodate this growth, the Plan calls for significant public investment in infrastructure, including water, wastewater, roads, parks, and other public facilities. Opportunities for continued expansion of commercial and industrial areas are also spelled out in the Plan.

  • MPO Officials Committee Adopted Long Range Transportation Plan

At their January 4, 2007, meeting, the Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO) Officials Committee unanimously approved the Year 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the greater Lincoln metropolitan area. As members of the Officials Committee, the City of Lincoln was represented at the meeting by Mayor Coleen Seng and City Council Chair Patte Newman; while Lancaster County was represented by Board of Commissioners's Chair Deb Shorr and Board Member Bob Workman. Governor Heineman and the State of Nebraska were represented by Monty Fredrickson from the Department of Roads.
