The City of Lincoln constructed this sturdy, Neo-Classical Revival building to house municipal utilities, combining water pumping and electric generating facilities. After it became outmoded in the 1970s, it was adapted into 39 residential units in 1987. The WaterPark project received a National Preservation Honor Award in 1992 from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
