Ferdinand C. Fiske came to Lincoln in 1887 and soon established himself as one of the leading architects in the booming capital city. Barr Terrace, a brick and stone row house of six side-by-side homes, was one of his first major projects; Lincoln's other surviving rowhouse, the nearby Lyman Terrace at 1111-1119 H Street, was also designed by Fiske.
