Public Hearings
The approval process for LPlan 2040 and the LRTP involved a series of public hearings held by various appointed and elected officials. This process began with three public hearings in August and September, 2011 held by the City-County Planning Commission. On Wednesday, September 7th, 2011, the Planning Commission had continued public hearing on the draft LPlan 2040 and the draft LRTP, and took action to approve the draft Plans with amendments.
The Planning Commission's action on LPlan 2040 is a recommendation to the City Council and County Board, which held a joint public hearing on October 18, 2011. The County Board took action and approved LPlan 2040 at their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. The City Council took action and approved LPlan 2040 on October 31, 2011. The Planning Commission's action on the LRTP is a recommendation to the Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO) Officials Committee. The MPO Officials Committee took action and approved the LRTP on December 1, 2011.
