As a result of controversy surrounding an acreage request in the Pawnee Lake area,
and several other acreage and rural development requests, the Planning Commission
in 2008 has asked for a review of the Lincoln Lancaster County development policies in the
unincorporated areas. The Department has produced two slideshows, the first one reviewing
current and past policy, longterm trends in population and building permits and
current approaches to managing rural growth. The second slide show reviews
groundwater issues in Lancaster County. This base information was used in
developing possible amendments to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, which will be available
for review in April 2009.
