"Future Design Framework" Community Open House
Join your fellow Lincoln residents in a Community Open House review of the "Values, Goals, and Best Practices" to use in the planning of West Haymarket. The session will be held on Thursday, April 17th, from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. in the Ridnour Room, 809 P Street in the Haymarket District. The format of the Open House will provide for a casual atmosphere of dialogue with West Haymarket staff and others involved in the process. A draft of the "West Haymarket Community Values" has been prepared based on discussions with the City's Historic Preservation Commission and Urban Design Committee. You are encouraged to enter your ideas about the future design of West Haymarket on our Community Bulletin Board. Your thoughts, along with the others we receive, will be posted for the community to look at and then add their comments. Pershing Center Open House Attendees Favor Taking Next StepA crowd numbering over 350 people attended the Noon hour and evening sessions of the October 18th "Pershing Center Open House." The Open House was sponsored by the West Haymarket Action Team (WHAT) as a way to inform the community about their work. The Pershing Center Open House attendees were provided with information about potential West Haymarket redevelopment plans, along with tours of Lincoln's 50 year old civic arena. WHAT members and staff were available to answer questions about previous studies, as well as listen to the ideas and thoughts of the residents.
Open House attendees were also asked to submit their thoughts about Pershing Center and the concept of redeveloping the West Haymarket area. These written comments provide an instructive perspective of the broad range of ideas among those in attendance.
Four separate "Experts Stations" were set up to address questions relating to the need for a new Lincoln arena, financing, West Haymarket design concepts, and infrastructure and the environment. |
