McGruff House Program
In April 2012, we were notified by the National Crime Prevention Council and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance that they will be terminating the McGruff House Program due to the advances in 21st century technology and declines in funding. Upon receiving this information, it was decided that the Lincoln Police Department must also terminate the McGruff Program locally.
We are asking any McGruff House participants to remove the McGruff sign from their window and either dispose of it or return the sign to a Lincoln Police Department location.
- Downtown Station: 575 S 10th Street
- Northeast Sub Station: 4843 Huntington Ave
- Center Sub Station: 1501 N 27th Street
It is of great importance that, if disposing the sign, it be shredded, cut up, or defaced in such a way so that they cannot be reused by any other person. Obviously, McGruff House participants know the importance of what could happen should these signs get into the wrong hands.
We appreciate everything that the volunteers have done for the community and look forward to working with them again in the future.
