Carjacking Suspects Arrested Outside of Lincoln
On June 30th 2005 at about 5:15 p.m. a 21 year old Lincoln man was in his 96 Cadillac stopped at 28th and S Streets when a White Dodge Neon cut him off and stopped next to his vehicle. The passenger in the Neon, later found to be Martel Toles, age 17, of Omaha pointed a handgun at the passenger and demanded his money and told him to get into their vehicle. The victim gave them the cash he had and then ran off towards a group of people. Toles left the area in the Dodge Neon and Brandon Colbert, age 20, of Omaha, drove off in the victim’s Cadillac.
Both vehicles were spotted on Interstate 80 driving towards Omaha. Deputies with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office stopped the Neon and arrested Martel Toles for Robbery, Attempted Kidnapping and Use of a weapon to commit a felony. NSP pursued the Cadillac into Omaha where they ultimately took Brandon Colbert into custody. Colbert was arrested on several charges with the State Patrol and a warrant will be issued for his arrest in connection with the crimes in Lincoln.
