On Tuesday, July 18th 2006, an effort to direct drivers’ attention to accident awareness will begin on South 27th Street between Woods Blvd. to Jane Lane. As a part of this project a vehicle that was involved in an accident will be placed on the Northeast corner of 27th and Old Cheney Road along with a sign that reads, “Speed Kills”. A speed trailer will be located along various spots along South 27th street to bring awareness to motorist of their speed. Officers from the Southeast Team will be concentrating traffic enforcement efforts along this route until the end of the project on August 8th. This stretch of roadway has had 42 accidents since the first of the year and officers are trying to influence drivers to pay attention and observe all traffic laws.
