The Lincoln Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit has completed a special traffic enforcement project that began on Monday, April 24th and ran two weeks, ending on May 5th 2006. This enforcement effort, funded by a grant through the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, involved officers concentrating on the Highway 2 corridor. The goal of this project was the reduction of speeding vehicles and the reduction of traffic signal violations on Highway 2. Officers noticed a reduction in speed from drivers throughout the project and no fatal or serious injury accidents occurred. Drivers are reminded that although this project has ended, officers will continue to address traffic issues on the Highway 2 corridor and also remind all occupants to please use your seatbelts.
