LPD Honors Fallen Officers during Law Enforcement Memorial Week

There will be a ceremony on the east steps of the Hall of Justice to observe Law Enforcement Memorial Week as part of a nationwide observance honoring fallen law enforcement officers.

The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, May 15th at 12:00 p.m. The Hall of Justice is located at 575 S. 10th Street, Lincoln Nebraska.

The brief ceremony will include the reading of a proclamation by Mayor Colleen Seng, and comments by keynote speaker, City Council Chairperson Ken Svoboda.

The Lincoln Police Department will read the names of the following officers who have been killed in the Line of Duty.

Captain Charles E. Hall killed March 31, 1917

Officer Richard E. Leyden killed September 26, 1949

Detective Frank H. Soukup killed December 16, 1966

Detective Paul B. Whitehead killed August 10, 1967

Motorcycle Officer George E. Welter killed February 9, 1968
