The Lincoln Police Department participates every year in the United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County fundraising campaign. The employee campaign, which is held in the summer, always has a goal to increase employee giving from the previous year. This year the department embraced the spirit of summer and baseball and offered an incentive to uniformed employees who would give to the United Way. If a uniformed employee made a contribution to the United Way, that employee would be allowed to wear a major league baseball cap of their favorite team on the days that Major League Baseball has teams playing in the World Series this fall. The incentive worked at the police department as contributions to the United Way rose this year over last year. So if you see a member of our team supporting their team next week, thank them for giving back to their community in yet another way.
