Arrests Made in Golf Course Vandalism

In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 28th 2006, Wilderness Ridge Golf Course was vandalized for an estimated damage total of over $70,000.00. Two John Deere Tractors were used to damage greens, landscaping and trees. One tractor with a backhoe was used to tip over the other tractor. Two golf carts were used to ram outbuildings damaging the buildings and carts and one cart was tipped over. The clubhouse area had severe damage to outdoor furniture and umbrella heaters.

A Crimestoppers tip came in to the police department early this week and officers were able to use this information to identify some suspects. At this time we have made several arrests of teens, ages 15 and 16, for felony Criminal Mischief and identified several others that were involved. This investigation is currently ongoing and the department will be able to identify those arrested at the conclusion.

During the investigation of this vandalism officers were also able to clear a previous vandalism on December 29th 2005, at Wilderness Ridge, where a golf cart was driven around the course causing some damage and then driven into the lake.
