During the month of December the Lincoln Police Department conducted a visible enforcement effort by officers to remove drug and alcohol impaired drivers from our roadways. With an assistance of an overtime grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, on-duty officers were supplemented with additional officers during peak enforcement times. Officers made 176 DWI arrests during the enforcement effort in the month of December.

There were no fatal traffic collisions in Lincoln during the month of December. Lincoln had 10 people die in car accidents in 2006 in 10 fatal collisions.
