The Lincoln Police Department conducted a special traffic enforcement project the past two weekends, which culminated in a sobriety checkpoint Saturday, October 27th, on Cornhusker Highway. This project, funded by a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, resulted in the following:
Traffic Enforcement Detail:
Sobriety Checkpoint: A drunk driver did not see the message boards and traffic cones at the sobriety checkpoint and after driving through these warning devices struck a police cruiser that was stopped at the checkpoint. The officer who was exiting her cruiser at the time was not injured nor was the driver, he was however, arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Negligent Driving, No Insurance and No Operators License.
